The Long Haul

Things are picking up pace here at Well Water!

Our volunteers are back from summer travels, we are getting into new routine team meetings, and we are connecting deeper with our friends from the club. Fall is off to a great start!

For our September outreach, we gathered about 15 people together to make bath salts, write notes, and pack bags for the girls - in addition to praying while our outreach team was in the club. We were so thankful for cookies made by two local families as well! It is truly a team effort to make each outreach go smoothly, and so much love goes into every little piece.

During our conversations with the girls in the club, there seemed to be a theme that we found to be really encouraging. Our friends kept saying how they appreciated the way we came to the club without judgement or expectation. We heard some stories of negative experiences they’d had with Christians doing similar outreaches, and how they felt like we truly loved them without needing to give them a lecture. While they all know we love Jesus and are “church girls”, they see that we aren’t there to highlight their flaws, but to encourage them and be their friends. Two girls even mentioned keeping their handwritten notes in a place where they could see them every day.

These comments reminded us that there is a lot of power in the simplicity of what we do.

There are no strings attached to our gifts. It is grace on display - an offer of kindness that all they have to do is reach out and take.

God is so present in this process. We believe that it is the kindness of God that leads people to change their lives. Not condemnation or control, but an invitation into abundant life. Our prayer and heart is to be there for the employees of the club, in whatever way they might need. Maybe they just need some friends to cheer them on, or a listening ear when things suck (don’t we all?). As we get to build real friendships with these women, we pray that God would give us opportunities to reveal His heart. This organic model of ministry isn’t about fast results - it’s about the long haul.

We are so thankful to get to do this work and shower these women with love month after month. It brings amazing joy to our hearts to be cultivating deeper relationships inside and outside of the club. While there are a few of us who are committed to pursuing the face-to-face relationships, each one of you who have supported Well Water are helping make that possible.

Every gift, every cookie, every note, and every prayer - they all add up to make this ministry thrive. These women are consistently reminded that even though just a few of us go into the club, there are dozens of people in this community that love them.

If you want to be a part of our October outreach and join with us in offering unconditional love to the employees of our local strip club, we would love to have you! Please feel free to reach out and our volunteer coordinator will be in touch. If you want to come pack bags and pray, all the details are in this Facebook event. We’d love to see you there!

Welcome Back!

D81E7177-7700-49A7-A52F-7DAA34D13D67.jpeg

It's been a while since we've posted and we wanted to do a little reintroduction!

We are Well Water Fargo, an outreach to the local strip club. We go to the club monthly with gifts, notes, and baked goods to spread kindness and build relationships. While we love Jesus and want every person in the club to have an encounter with God, our only agenda is to love well.

December marked ONE YEAR of doing outreach in the club. With that milestone, there has been amazing growth! From being accepted as family by club employees to adding to our team of committed volunteers, it's an exciting season.

As we bring in more team members, we are able to delegate out the many tasks involved to run this ministry. This means that the blog is able to be a priority - keeping you updated with all that God is doing!

What has God been doing through Well Water?

The last few months, outreach has been full of crazy stories of God’s goodness and deep heart connections with the employees that we spend our Friday nights with. We have seen bartenders coming out from behind their post to give us hugs and dancers taking the time to encourage US by telling us that they see how much of an impact we are making on the other girls.

It has been absolutely incredible to see how the relationships are deepening as we've put in the groundwork to become familiar faces in the club. We absolutely love "visiting our friends" and are often in awe of how much love they give to us, even as we are on a mission to love and encourage them.

We just had our March outreach just last weekend! We partnered with The Burn Fargo-Moorhead to have worship and prayer happening while we visited the club. The month's gift included a notebook, pen, AND a Jesus Loves Strippers Bible with an invite card to celebrate Easter at a local church. This was such a fun outreach to get to bring in a bolder gift and hear the girls get excited about the message of “Jesus Loves Strippers”.

Do you have questions or want to get more involved?

Shoot us an email at wellwaterfargo@gmail.com and we’d love to talk to you more about how you can partner with us. You can also join the email list here to stay up to date with all our latest happenings.

Thank you again for your support, prayers, and generous giving! We are so thankful for you!

Why the Waiting? || 4 Core Values of Prayer and Worship

A dream is not born in a day.

All good things take time and effort. Relationships, the birth of a child, the start of a business, and even the early church gathered and waited before God showed up on the day of Pentecost. Yet, we live in a microwave society that wants results now. We praise hustling and making things happen. To sit still, humble ourselves, and wait is not in our culture’s DNA.

But it’s going to be in Well Water Fargo’s DNA. In Exodus 33, when Moses was leading the Israelites out of Egypt and into the promised land, he had this conversation with God where he asked a lot of questions. God kept telling him of the favor and plans in store, but Moses wanted to make sure that he was truly in the right path at the right time. He says to God, “if your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” (Exodus 33:15) What follows in this pressing in process, is that he got to encounter God in a way that was so vivid and so close that it left his face literally glowing.

I want our hearts to be aware of how much we need God’s blessing, favor, and presence. We are not capable of launching Well Water on our own. God must go before us. He must come with us. If He doesn’t, we are in trouble.

That is the heart behind why we are taking about eight to nine months to gather in worship and prayer before we ever step foot in the club. I know that there’s something inside of us that wants action and wants it to be now - trust me, I totally get that. There will be days ahead for bold steps and a fast pace. Right now, this season is about preparation and building foundation. We want to walk ahead in confidence, but knowing that we are walking on a history of humility.

I want to explain four core values of Well Water Fargo that are being established by taking months to devote to prayer and worship.

1. We partner with God to be carriers of His love.

If the goal of Well Water is to show Jesus’ love to people, we need God in on the plan. We can’t muster up strength on our own and call it the love of God. We need to be able to receive God’s love before we can give it away. We have to grasp God’s heart for people before we can communicate it effectively. This season of prayer and worship is going to be one of experiencing, understanding, and growing in God’s love for us, our city, and women in the sex industry.

2. We come together in unity as one church and body.

Well Water is not attached to any denomination or particular church, it’s attached to the statement that “Jesus loves strippers and so do we.” It’s about the people of God all coming together beyond the silly barriers we put up and reaching out our hands to those in our community that have long been kept outside the walls of church. We are coming together to send a message that says, “We love you. We want to provide you with support and community. We want to apologize for the ways you may have been hurt in the past.” It’s hard to send a cohesive message unless you’ve spent time together. There’s no better way to seek unity than seeking God side by side.

3. We are aware of the spiritual darkness surrounding this ministry.

We refuse to be naive, even while we refuse to be anxious. Strip clubs are not light, easy places to go into. There is a real spiritual battle that the Bible talks about in Ephesians 6 and we are told to be prepared. Sending a team into a club without prayer and training would be like sending warriors into a battle without any armor or tactics. We are not going to do that. Now to clarify, our battle is not against people. We are not fighting the women who are dancers. We are not fighting the men who pay for sexual gratification. We are not fighting the bouncers, bar tenders, managers, or owners. We are not even fighting the sex industry. We are fighting against brokenness and darkness. We are fighting against satan and the realities of a spiritual realm we cannot see. We are fighting for freedom in every sense of the word. This fight begins on our knees.

4. We are poised with humility, confidence, hope, peace, and a nonjudgmental spirit.

We don’t just want to rush into anything and try to “save” women. God is not in a rush and neither are we. In order for us as a team to have these traits listen above, we need to cultivate them. I encourage everyone to cultivate this in their personal life, but it also needs to be done as a collective.

This is what Well Water is about. If you are reading this, you have the opportunity to be in on the ground floor of something that I believe will be used to transform this city. I want to see people of commitment, integrity, and perseverance come together in a spirit of faith. You are invited into the adventure.

We will be having our first Prayer, Worship, and Vision Casting night approaching within the next month (exact location + date TBA). If you want to stay updated with details, you can “like” us on Facebook or sign up for our mailing list. Feel free to also shoot me an email at wellwaterfargo@gmail.com if you want to be involved!

It's an honor to work + wait with you all.
