Two Years in the Club

WW-23.jpg

This month marks two years of bringing monthly gifts to the local strip club and building friendships with the employees.

Thank you to everyone who has partnered with us! There have been hundreds who have given their time, cookies, and prayers to make this outreach possible. We are entirely volunteer run and it’s been amazing to see people take ownership of the mission - loving and serving women in the local sex industry.

Some people do that through baking. Some people do that through leading worship and prayer for our outreach nights. Some people do that through helping pack bags. Some people do that through driving our outreach team to the club. Some people do that through going into the club and building direct friendships. Some people do that through praying for us faithfully. Some people do that through planning gifts or rallying their friends or writing notes.

There are so many different ways to love and serve with the same heart.

Because of the community that has rallied behind this mission, we have been able to give out over 400 gifts (that’s about 1,500 cookies!) to over 100 women in the sex industry. Our club attracts women from all over the United States who travel to work at different clubs. This means there’s been a consistent flow of new women that we’ve been able to meet. While it’s mostly our local friends who we’ve made friendships with outside of the club (due to consistency and trust), we are in awe of how many people have been touched by this ministry.

As I reflect on our two years, I’m also in awe of what a blessing these friends have been to me personally. Our friends from the club celebrated with me when I got married last year, even as I’ve been able to celebrate engagements, babies, houses, and more with them. We’ve shared our stories over coffee and cried tears together in prayer.

These people are not a project - they are our friends. We have been able to build this beautiful community that’s a hilarious combination of strippers and church girls. We are able to learn from each other. We are able to laugh and connect and encourage one another. While we go in with a heart to serve and pour out, we rarely left feeling empty after visiting the club, but instead filled up by the joy that these friends bring to our lives.

The best part is, this is just the beginning.

In 2019, we are really excited to be formally establishing our 501(c)3 status as a nonprofit, which will allow us greater freedom in the work that we do. We will be able to fundraise not just for gifts, but also for things like counseling funds, special events, and staffing. There is a lot of growth coming. Between the board we have assembled for wisdom and the volunteers who help hands on, we believe that God is going to use all the combined efforts of everyday people to do something amazing in the local sex industry.

We are praying and believing for small groups to form - where church girls and strippers can come together to connect to God and each other. We are looking at expanding our reach into other strip clubs in the region to be able to replicate this model of ministry and help plant new outreaches. We are excitedly planning for more ways for people to get involved and give.

The last two years have been an amazing adventure, but we are believing the best is yet to come! The foundation established is an amazing launching ground for what God does next.

Thank you for being a part of these last two years and for dreaming with us for 2019 and beyond!

Small Things On Repeat

ww-5.jpg

“Do small things. On repeat. And think about others. I think that's it. That's all. I don't even worry anymore about becoming a piece of someone's history because (a) knowing isn't the point and (b) sometimes our greatest points of impact will be the kind we never come to know about.” - Hannah Brencher

Essentially, we do the same thing every month here at Well Water.

As we seek to keep you all better updated on what is happening, we also know that a lot of the basics are the same month to month: gifts, notes, goodies, prayer, hugs, and connection. Some months, there’s an exciting story that comes from the club and some months it’s just a normal, awesome night spent with our friends.

This October’s outreach was one of those normal, awesome nights. There wasn’t anything big or exciting that happened, we just connected deeper with our friends and got to catch up on life. Several of the girls that we spend time with outside of the club were working and I’m always thankful when we see them more than once a month. Lately, there’s been such a growth in the depth of relationships and we are so excited to see how we will continue to grow!

One of my favorite things about this last outreach was the huge sense of community that we have had among our volunteers. We had near record amount of people come out to help pack bags and pray. The campus group Love Your Melon baked tons of goodies for us. Notes were sent to us with love all the way from Florida. We had over 30 people involved in pouring out love and kindness - which is about how many employees we get to bless at the club. It’s amazing to watch the community surrounding this mission grow. Thank you to everyone involved!

We have learned that there is no place outside of the love of God and no place where we can’t go to make friends and love people like Jesus did. The more people who get involved in the simplest ways, the more we get to tap into this concept for our whole life. It’s not just about organized outreaches or a particular nonprofit, it’s about seeing a city loved, one person at a time.

It is such an honor and gift to be able to serve one area of our community - individuals involved in the legal sex industry. If that’s something that’s on your heart too, or maybe you’re just curious about what we do, please reach out! We’d love to talk and there’s always room for more hands doing small things on repeat.

The Long Haul

ww-7.jpg

Things are picking up pace here at Well Water!

Our volunteers are back from summer travels, we are getting into new routine team meetings, and we are connecting deeper with our friends from the club. Fall is off to a great start!

For our September outreach, we gathered about 15 people together to make bath salts, write notes, and pack bags for the girls - in addition to praying while our outreach team was in the club. We were so thankful for cookies made by two local families as well! It is truly a team effort to make each outreach go smoothly, and so much love goes into every little piece.

During our conversations with the girls in the club, there seemed to be a theme that we found to be really encouraging. Our friends kept saying how they appreciated the way we came to the club without judgement or expectation. We heard some stories of negative experiences they’d had with Christians doing similar outreaches, and how they felt like we truly loved them without needing to give them a lecture. While they all know we love Jesus and are “church girls”, they see that we aren’t there to highlight their flaws, but to encourage them and be their friends. Two girls even mentioned keeping their handwritten notes in a place where they could see them every day.

These comments reminded us that there is a lot of power in the simplicity of what we do.

There are no strings attached to our gifts. It is grace on display - an offer of kindness that all they have to do is reach out and take.

God is so present in this process. We believe that it is the kindness of God that leads people to change their lives. Not condemnation or control, but an invitation into abundant life. Our prayer and heart is to be there for the employees of the club, in whatever way they might need. Maybe they just need some friends to cheer them on, or a listening ear when things suck (don’t we all?). As we get to build real friendships with these women, we pray that God would give us opportunities to reveal His heart. This organic model of ministry isn’t about fast results - it’s about the long haul.

We are so thankful to get to do this work and shower these women with love month after month. It brings amazing joy to our hearts to be cultivating deeper relationships inside and outside of the club. While there are a few of us who are committed to pursuing the face-to-face relationships, each one of you who have supported Well Water are helping make that possible.

Every gift, every cookie, every note, and every prayer - they all add up to make this ministry thrive. These women are consistently reminded that even though just a few of us go into the club, there are dozens of people in this community that love them.

If you want to be a part of our October outreach and join with us in offering unconditional love to the employees of our local strip club, we would love to have you! Please feel free to reach out and our volunteer coordinator will be in touch. If you want to come pack bags and pray, all the details are in this Facebook event. We’d love to see you there!

Welcome Back!

D81E7177-7700-49A7-A52F-7DAA34D13D67.jpeg

It's been a while since we've posted and we wanted to do a little reintroduction!

We are Well Water Fargo, an outreach to the local strip club. We go to the club monthly with gifts, notes, and baked goods to spread kindness and build relationships. While we love Jesus and want every person in the club to have an encounter with God, our only agenda is to love well.

December marked ONE YEAR of doing outreach in the club. With that milestone, there has been amazing growth! From being accepted as family by club employees to adding to our team of committed volunteers, it's an exciting season.

As we bring in more team members, we are able to delegate out the many tasks involved to run this ministry. This means that the blog is able to be a priority - keeping you updated with all that God is doing!

What has God been doing through Well Water?

The last few months, outreach has been full of crazy stories of God’s goodness and deep heart connections with the employees that we spend our Friday nights with. We have seen bartenders coming out from behind their post to give us hugs and dancers taking the time to encourage US by telling us that they see how much of an impact we are making on the other girls.

It has been absolutely incredible to see how the relationships are deepening as we've put in the groundwork to become familiar faces in the club. We absolutely love "visiting our friends" and are often in awe of how much love they give to us, even as we are on a mission to love and encourage them.

We just had our March outreach just last weekend! We partnered with The Burn Fargo-Moorhead to have worship and prayer happening while we visited the club. The month's gift included a notebook, pen, AND a Jesus Loves Strippers Bible with an invite card to celebrate Easter at a local church. This was such a fun outreach to get to bring in a bolder gift and hear the girls get excited about the message of “Jesus Loves Strippers”.

Do you have questions or want to get more involved?

Shoot us an email at wellwaterfargo@gmail.com and we’d love to talk to you more about how you can partner with us. You can also join the email list here to stay up to date with all our latest happenings.
